Holyhead Golf Club offers fantastic views towards the
mountains of Snowdonia and
is a challenging heathland
18 hole championship course with good greens.
A glance at the scorecard tells you that the course measures just over 6,000 yards
in length from the back tees ( 6090 yards, par 71. 5208 yards, par 72 for the ladies
).
From a distance, it looks relatively tame with only one serious hill to negotiate
but look a little closer and you will realise
that the fairways are extremely narrow
and quite undulating while the rough comprises of much gorse, heather and
bracken
giving rise to all kinds of challenges.
Add the wind which whips across the Irish Sea and you have a test of golf, with very
different holes to savour.
